Why should I get involved?
Not only are you raising money for vital pancreatic cancer research and patient advocacy, but by joining UNC’s Running Rascals through PurpleStride, you are entered for a chance to win special prizes and incentives (more details in the following section)!
We encourage you to also see this as a great fundraising opportunity for yourself if you are passionate about cancer advocacy – by working harder to seek out donors under your campaign page, you can work your way up the rankings of UNC’s top PurpleStride team members (great accomplishment to add to your resume)!

What is PanCAN’s PurpleStride?
PanCAN, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, is a charity that funds research, provides patient/caregiver support, conducts community outreach and advocates for increased federal research funding for those affected by pancreatic cancer.
Their largest annual fundraiser is the PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer! The fundraiser has raised a total of over $144 million since 2007, and one will be held this year in Raleigh on April 29th.
Do I have to participate in the walk to contribute?
No, you certainly do not have to attend the walk on April 29th to take part in the fundraiser! Your most meaningful contributions will be from registering for the UNC Running Rascals Team and raising money for your personal fundraising page by asking friends and family for donations.

WEEK 3: April 13 - April 19
The prize for our third week winner will be a one-of-a-kind snack basket, sponsored by Wegmans! The basket is valued at over $50, and includes a $15 Starbucks gift card AND a $10 Chick-Fil-A gift card! Special shoutout to Wegmans at Chapel Hill for the generous donation in support of our cause.

To be eligible to enter the raffle:
-
Raise at least $50 on your personal fundraising page.
OR
-
Send donation request emails/texts/DMs to 25 people through the PurpleStride website or on your own social media/messaging apps.
Once you have completed one of those tasks, email screenshots proving you completed the Week 3 challenge to cca@unc.edu. The winner will be announced the evening of Wednesday, April 19th!
